29.
From mass surveillance to the the over-commercialization of the
30. Internet, the technology that we depend upon for community and
31. connection is being compromised. The recent accessibility of
32. networking technology through devices such as the Raspberry Pi
33. and software such as BATMAN Adv has made it affordable and possible
34. for everyday citizens to learn how to design their own web servers
35. and networks.

36.
Join us for two days of speakers, panels and workshops designed to
37. introduce the community to DIY networking. Learn how to create your
38. own offline networks, portable web servers, mesh networks or internet
39. gateways in hands on workshops. Attend panels where you can discuss
40. your visions for how a localized network could support your school,
41. your community, or your cause. Listen to speakers talk about the future
42. of computer networks and why it’s important to understand how networks
43. work in this age of hyper-connectivity.

44.
QUESTIONS
45. What would you do with your own network?
46. Why does it matter to understand how networks work?
47. Why do community networks matter?
48. How could free, open local networks benefit people?
49. What can networks be used for other than social networking and commerical use?

50.
THEMES
51. Community
52. Education
53. Activism
54. Art

55.
GOALS
56. To understand how the technology can be used as a method of control
57. and how to subvert that.
58. Teach people how to use the technology for themselves.
59. Encourage creative and social exploration with computer networks.

60.
IDEALS
61. Promoting free and open networks built with free and open hardware and software
62. Decentralizing the control of where networks exist and what and whom are served by them
63. Maintaining control of our own content, hardware, and means of deployment
64. Community and education first
